November 20, 2012 – Burlington, Vt. – Seven Days, Vermont’s free, independent weekly newspaper, and the Vermont Technology Alliance, the trade organization supporting Vermont’s business and tech community, are excited to announce the winners of the first annual Vermont Tech Jam Awards. MicroStrain, a LORD Company, received the Innovation Award and The Emergent Media Center at Champlain College received the Ambassador Award at the annual Vermont Tech Jam on October 26, 2012.  The two clay statuettes were hand crafted by Burlington artist John Brickels.

“The awards were designed to showcase Vermont’s dynamic technology sector,” said Jeff Couture, executive director of the Vermont Technology Alliance, which sponsored the competition along with Seven Days. “We received applications demonstrating innovation and entrepreneurship across a spectrum of business activity, including advertising, biotechnology, computer hardware, hospitality and education. Microstrain’s innovative sensor product and the Emergent Media Center’s leading role in the growth of Vermont’s digital economy exemplify the two award categories and set a high standard for others to follow.”
