MicroStrain Fun Fact: Did You Know...
Did you know that our newest inertial sensor, the 3DM-GX3-45, contains the 2010 World Magnetic Model, ranging from 1km below sea level to 850 km above sea level? So what does this mean? It means that your tiny 3DM-GX3-45 GPS-Aided Inertial Navigation System can more accurately obtain the device's true north heading, and can detect when the device is nearing areas of strong magnetic interference. In addition to being used in the filter, all of the information produced by the model (inclination, declination, and the expected field vector) is available to you, the user! The model is updated every 5 years by the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) on behalf of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), therefore, when the new model is established, MicroStrain will update the customers' devices via a firmware upgrade.
