LORD Corporation to Highlight Expanded Sensing Offerings for Aerospace at Farnborough 2016

(Cary, N.C. – July 8, 2016) – LORD Corporation – a global leader in inertial and wireless sensing systems – will highlight a variety of expanded sensing offerings to current and future aerospace industry customers at the upcoming Farnborough International Airshow, July 11-17 in Farnborough, England.

According to Andy Winzenz, Commercial Director, Sensing, LORD Corporation continues to expand and unify its sensing offerings, particularly in the field of Aerospace and Defense. “Building on the acquisitions of the assets of two sensing companies, MicroStrain and Stellar Technology, Inc., during the last few years, LORD is also expanding its ability to develop solutions for our customers seeking unique aerospace sensing solutions,” said Winzenz.

The technology acquired from MicroStrain and Stellar are now both part of the LORD Sensing brand. In 2014 LORD completed the acquisition of the assets of Stellar Technology, specializing in pressure, load, force, torque, displacement, and temperature sensors. The acquisition of the assets of MicroStrain, Inc. in 2013 strengthened LORD Corporation’s sensing portfolio through the addition of inertial measurement systems, micro-displacement transducers, wireless sensor networks and innovative software technology. Solutions range from rapidly deployed test and measurement to customized OEM solutions. Applications include navigation and control, rotating component health, condition-based maintenance, and structural health monitoring.

“We are excited to share our expanded sensing products and capabilities at Farnborough,” said Winzenz. “Today we can provide customers with an ever-growing range of standard and customized solutions.”

One of the most anticipated products is the new 3DM-GX5 line of inertial products, including GNSS/INS, AHRS, and IMU units. The GX5’s innovative Auto-Adaptive AHRS accelerometer has been proven to provide outstanding accuracy during field tests, with an almost negligible roll error during turns and other sudden course shifts.

LORD Sensing is also excited to announce the innovative Torque-Link wireless sensor, which provides torsional strain measurements from shafts spinning at speeds up to 4,200 rpm, without the need for expensive wiring or burdensome slip-rings. Other LORD Sensing technologies highlighted at Farnborough include: the V-Link 200® eight-channel analog input node, providing accurate measures of strain, acceleration, vibration, and more; the new SensorConnect™ programmable interface for data aggregation, storage, and analysis; and the Demod-DVRT2 high-performance displacement sensor signal conditioner. Utilizing its dramatically reduced noise floor, this new electronics package improves sensing resolution as much as 10 times the previous generation product.
