LORD Sensing Unveils New Best-in-Class Inertial Sensor

The 3DM-GX5-45 GNSS/INS inertial sensor includes the latest technology to provide highly precise and accurate measurements of position, velocity, attitude, atmospheric pressure, acceleration, and angular rate. Ideal applications for the GX5 sensor include platform stabilization, camera/antenna pointing, GNSS-aided navigation, unmanned vehicles, regime monitoring, and personnel tracking.

The GX5’s footprint is approximately 44 mm x 36 mm x 11 mm, and it weighs less than 20 grams. Those specifications, along with the sensor’s superior low-noise accelerometer and temperature compensation, combine to make the GX5 the highest-performing industrial inertial sensor in its class.

“Our GX5 inertial sensor also offers simple integration for the customer,” said Fritz Martin, LORD Sensing Manager of Inertial Engineering. “Because it shares the same miniature footprint and API as our earlier inertial lines, our users can quickly and easily drop in the GX5 to their existing application.” more

U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy Visits Vermont Office

U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) visited the offices of LORD Sensing-MicroStrain this month to help unveil the new 3DM-GX5-45 inertial sensor. Senator Leahy met with LORD Corporation President and CEO Ed Auslander, toured the facilities, and met with the employees for an informal town hall Q&A session. Thank you for the visit and all your support, Senator!

Sensors for Commercial Spaceflight Applications

Advancements in commercial space flight have created many opportunities for engineers to utilize LORD Sensing’s board range of sensor products. Our pressure transducers and transmitters, load cells, torque sensors, temperature transducers, displacement sensors and instrumentation is ideal for providing measurement solutions for both in-flight and ground-support applications.

When developing platforms for commercial space flight, innovative companies are developing launch vehicles, propulsion systems, spacecraft, flight control systems, recovery systems and ground support systems that will place a premium on safety, reliability, efficiency and cost. In each case, our proven track helps ensure the success of these commercial space initiatives. more

LORD Sensing-sponsored Cybathlon Team Wins Silver Medal
LORD Sensing congratulates the Florida Institute for Human & Machine Cognition (IHMC) for winning the silver medal at the CYBATHLON Championship for Athletes with Disabilities in Zurich earlier this month. The Mina v2 exoskeleton features two on-board LORD Sensing 3DM-GX4-15 inertial sensors, which provided pose information of the pilot and exoskeleton. IHMC was the only Powered Exoskeleton Race team from the United States to compete in the competition. more
